CECH WANTS JOSE. ISH
Both The Daily Mail and The Daily Star get themselves very excited this morning about some quotes from Petr Cech, which they insist suggest that the he wants Jose Mourinho back.
Cech is quoted as saying, about fans' chants for him to return: "Of course, I understand that. Jose Mourinho did a fantastic job for the club and people loved him so he rightly deserved that. This is the way it should be."
Hmmm. So he doesn't actually say he wants Jose back, just that the fans are right to voice their opinions.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
QPR TURNED DOWN SAMBA BID
Here's Harry Redknapp on a bid from Zenit for Chris Samba:
"We had an offer for Samba, right on the deadline and the chairman turned it down. It was for more money than we paid for Samba.
"The offer was last week - it was a massive offer to take Samba back to Russia. It was in the week that has just gone as the Russian window was still open. It was a big offer.
"The chairman asked me 'what do you think?' and I said 'it is up to you, it is your club, it is your decision'. I would have had no problem. I left it to the chairman. He came back and said he had turned it down and said 'get on with it'.
"The player probably spoke to the chairman but it was really important we kept him. It was really good for us. Had we had lost him, I would have had to have played someone else. That is football."
Appparently Zenit 'believe the deal would have complied with FIFA rules', but given that he's already played for two clubs this season, we're not so sure. Although obviously there are blurred lines here with the Russian season and whatnot.
LEWANDOWSKI MAY SEE OUT CONTRACT
Interesting one from Borussia Dortmund's general manager now. Here he is on Robert Lewandowski's future:
"I assume that Lewandowski will stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond this season," he told German channel Sport 1.
"The fact that Robert wasn't willing to extend his contract means he will most likely leave the club, at the very least at the end of his current deal.
"I have a very good relationship with Robert Lewandowski and I know he's a totally good character. He will give everything for BVB for as long as he'll be playing for us.
"We don't necessarily depend on the transfer sum Robert might generate, if it gives us the possibility to be successful again next season.
"This year, we already generated 40 million euros in the Champions League, which is much more than we could ever yield with a Robert Lewandowski transfer.
"However, if a club would pay a very high price, then we will think about the offer. We are free in our decision."
BAYERN IN FOR NEYMAR

Apparently Bayern Munich are keen on Neymar, a story that is presented from the perspective of Chelsea being gazumped for the flamboyantly-haired Brazilian.
The talk is that the offer will be a whopping £86million, something out of even Roman Abramovich's reach.
