LIVERPOOL EYE ALONSO RETURN
Oh boy, we'd love to see this. According to SHOUTsport, Liverpool are monitoring Xabi Alonso's contract talks with Real Madrid as they weigh up a move to bring the magnificently bearded one back to Anfield.

Apparently Alonso is stalling on a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, with his current contract set to expire in 2014. Real Madrid would be reluctant to sell the 31-year-old, but there has been plenty of speculation surrounding the futures of Jose Mourinho and his squad after a poor season in La Liga.

SHOUTsport claim Liverpool have enquired about Alonso's availability in recent months, but the midfielder is happy to sit tight until he learns Mourinho's fate.

UNITED DISCUSS RONALDO WITH NIKE
Quick line from The Daily Mail now, who claim Manchester United officials discussed a potential £65million deal for Cristiano Ronaldo at a meeting with Nike on Friday. Sir Alex Ferguson has previously denied rumours linking Ronny with a return to Old Trafford, but speculation has increased following United's Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

According to The Mail: 'They (United officials) were due to discuss extending their sponsorship deal, and also on the agenda was the subject of funding a bid to sign Real Madrid's Ronaldo, who they sold to the Spanish club in 2009.

'Ferguson has played down talk of a return for the forward and it remains unlikely, but it is understood the finer details of financing a move were considered yesterday at the meeting in London.'

Just do it.

CITY AND ARSENAL TARGET ADAM MAHER
Manchester City have joined Arsenal in expressing an interest in 19-year-old Dutch international Adam Maher.

The AZ Alkmaar midfielder is considered to be one of the hottest prospects in Holland and is valued at around £10million by the Eredivisie club. The Daily Mail claim City's director of football Txiki Begiristain has already held talks with the playmaker over a possible transfer in the summer and asked him to attend a match at the Etihad.

Arsenal and Spurs have also been linked with Maher, who featured on our Top Ten Alternative Transfer Targets in January.

CHELSEA TO SAY M'BAYE TO FERNANDO
The big Chelsea gossip on Saturday is that Roman Abramovich is prepared to sell Fernando Torres for just £15million in the summer after becoming as frustrated as the rest of us at the striker's lacklustre performances.

The Express claim Anzhi Makhachkala are ready to end Torres' Stamford Bridge nightmare, but the Spain international would prefer to return to La Liga. We can't see that happening unless Atletico Madrid offer a tempting swap deal involving Falcao.

The Express report that 'a source close to Abramovich' said: "Roman will now sell Torres - if he can get the right offer."

Another possible replacement for Torres is AC Milan striker M'Baye Niang, according to The Sun. The 18-year-old only moved to the San Siro in the summer after rejecting interest from Arsenal and Everton, but it's thought he's available for around £8.5million after scoring only one goal in 14 appearances for the Rossoneri.
