ARSENAL MOVE FOR SUAREZ
If you believe all you read, Arsenal's summer transfer business is on the verge of unravelling, with mooted moves for Gonzalo Higuain, Marouane Fellaini and Julio Cesar rumoured to be collapsing.
So with that in mind, they are apparently set to make a new bid for Luis Suarez.
The Daily Mirror claims that they will improve their £30million offer, apparently made last week, and while Liverpool are reluctant to sell, they may sit down and talk if a magic number is mentioned.
The paper claims: 'They may be prepared to sit down with the Gunners for negotiations if the Londoners put £40m on the table.
'The odds are still against Arsenal, though - it is understood Suarez would prefer to leave Britain, with Spanish giants Real his stated first choice.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail offers fresh hope with word that they are in for Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
The paper claims: 'The 20-year-old Frenchman has also been a target for Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United but with those clubs chasing other deals, the Gunners hope they can agree a fee with cash-strapped Sevilla.'
They also rather casually suggest that Wenger wants Tim Krul as well, which we haven't heard for a while.
JOVETIC CLOSE TO CITY?
Manuel Pellegrini reckons Manchester City could make some new signings in the next couple of days, and The Times reckons it could be Stevan Jovetic.
The paper reports that City have 'beaten off' (ha) competition from Chelsea and Juventus, the latter believing the price is too high for the Montenegro forward.
Apparently the striker's representatives have held talks with City and personal terms 'are not expected to be a problem.'
They now have to meet Fiorentina's asking price of £30million, but we don't imaging that will be a huge problem either.
Meanwhile The Daily Mail claims City have 'suffered a setback' in their chase for Alvaro Negredo, after he said he was happy to stay with Sevilla.
"Right now I'm at Sevilla and I like it very much. If I stay then that will be fine, but if I leave then it will be because it benefits both the club and myself," he said.
"I'm happy on a personal level but collectively we have not achieved the goals we wanted.
"Now perhaps I am at a decisive moment for my future."
ROONEY STILL WANTS OUT
Quick one from The Daily Star, who report that Wayne Rooney still wants out of Manchester United.
'And Chelsea believe they are in pole position to land the unsettled £25million striker,' claims The Star.
Rooney of course had to fly home from United's pre-season tour to Thailand with a slight hamstring twang.
FULHAM WANT COATES
Here's an interesting one.
It really hasn't gone according to plan for Sebastian Coates at Liverpool, so here's a quick line from The Daily Mirror:
'FULHAM are eyeing up Liverpool's OTHER Uruguay international - defender Sebastian Coates. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is prepared to sell as the 22-year-old has failed to make an impact in two years at Anfield.'
