UNITED TO DOUBLE FABREGAS' WAGES
After increasing their bid for Cesc Fabregas to £30m plus add-ons on Saturday, Mancester United are now set to try and lure the midfielder with an offer to double his current wage of £100,000-a-week.
The Sunday Mirror report that Fabregas will 'consider a switch if Barca accept a bid' after United made it clear they are willing to make him one of the club's top earners alongside former Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie.
According to the Mirror: 'A Spanish source said: "Manchester United are deadly serious about signing Fabregas and have made a second bid.
"It is hard to predict what will happen but one thing is for sure and that is that Fabregas could earn a lot more by joining United.
"That will not be his top priority, but United hope it will help them to clinch a deal."'
Although a transfer still seems unlikely, United must have been given some encouragement to continue pursuing Fabregas.
CHELSEA PLAN £40M ROONEY BID
The big Wayne Rooney gossip on Sunday is that Chelsea are plotting a 'knockout' £40m bid for the striker, according to the Telegraph.
That offer would dwarf the Blues' opening bid of less than £25m, but after Jose Mourinho declared that Rooney is the only player he wants to add to his squad, Chelsea are apparently prepared to go all out to meet the manager's wishes.
United have flatly rejected Chelsea's interest so far, but the Telegraph claim 'there is an expectation at Chelsea that Rooney can be signed this summer and it is believed the 27-year-old is not only keen to quit United but move to Stamford Bridge and join up with new manager Jose Mourinho.'
This line is also followed by The Times and the Guardian, who report that one of the main reasons for Rooney's unrest is his concern over Sir Alex Ferguson's continued presence at Old Trafford.
The Telegraph add: 'Rooney remains angry at Ferguson's claim he asked for a transfer during a private meeting between the pair in April - a claim denied by the player's camp.'
Although United have refused to play ball with Chelsea, there must be a price at which they would be willing to let Rooney leave - especially considering Moyes has already admitted he will evaluate the striker's future next summer.
United have reportedly accepted that Spurs won't sell Gareth Bale this summer, but if Chelsea do offer £40m for Rooney it would allow the champions to put together a £60m package in a bid to persuade Daniel Levy to sell the winger.
SPURS TO MAKE SOLDADO MOVE
According to the Daily Mail, Daniel Levy is ready to break Spurs' transfer record with an £18m offer to sign Roberto Soldado.
The striker bagged 24 goals in 35 La Liga matches last season but is available for the right price as Valencia look to reduce their spiralling debts.
The club's sporting director Braulio Vazquez admitted earlier this week that there is interest in Soldado from the Premier League, but so far Valencia haven't received any offers.
Spurs are prepared to sell both Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe to help fund a new-look strike-force next season, but the Mail report that 'Newcastle have been scared off by a £12m price tag for Defoe.'
We don't blame them.
ARSENAL BACK IN HIGUAIN HUNT
Quick line from the Daily Mail now, who report that Arsenal are plotting another bid for Gonzalo Higuain after Napoli were priced out of a move for the striker.
It was widely reported that Arsenal were close to sealing a £25m deal for Higuain two weeks ago, but since then Real Madrid have hiked the asking price to £35m.
That development has apparently ruled out Napoli, with Arsenal left to consider making an improved offer or putting all their effort into signing Luis Suarez.
