UNITED PLAN FINAL FABREGAS BID
The big gossip on Tuesday is that Manchester United are preparing a third and final offer for Cesc Fabregas before packing up their things and calling it a day.
The Mirror claim United will bid £34million for the midfielder this week, despite Gerard Pique warning the champions that they are 'wasting their time'.
'United will go back in with a club record offer after the Spanish champions rejected the first two bids of £26m and £30m,' report the Mirror.
'But Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has written to United telling them to keep their hands off the midfielder as he is a "key part of our project."'
The Mirror repeat the Manchester Evening News' line from Monday that Luka Modric and Yohan Cabaye are on David Moyes' list of Plan Bs.
"A point does come but when you are interested in good players you want to give it every opportunity to materialise," said Moyes on United's pre-season tour.
"And I'll do that. I'll hope things can continue to try to move forward."
ARSENAL SET TO INCREASE SUAREZ BID
After reportedly having two bids for Luis Suarez rejected, Arsenal are set to return with a third offer of £40million, writes John Cross in the Daily Mirror.
Arsene Wenger has apparently named the striker as his main target after shelving his interest in Gonzalo Higuain and it's thought that a £40million bid could be enough to convince Liverpool to sell.
According to the Mirror: 'Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is adamant they will not sell Suarez as they also brace themselves for a bid from Real Madrid who only value the Uruguayan at £25m.
'Arsenal believe Suarez, who returned to pre-season training with Liverpool yesterday, is keen as they can offer Champions League football and they remain hopeful.'
Arsenal could still move for Higuain should Real Madrid drop the striker's price back to the original figure of £24million, but reports on Monday night claimed the striker is off to Napoli for around €37million.
Meanwhile, despite Wenger denying Arsenal's interest in Brazil wonderkid Bernard, the London Evening Standard claim the 20-year-old is close to sealing a £21million move to the Emirates.
The paper report that Bernard 'has agreed a five-year contract worth £50,000-a-week after tax and will be in London on Friday for a medical'.
SALVIO ALSO ON ARSENAL'S LIST
Quick line from the Daily Star now who, as well as going big on the story that Wayne Rooney has been playing golf ten miles from Chelsea's training ground, report that Arsenal are tracking Benfica winger Salvio.
The 23-year-old was the subject of a story in The Independent last week, which claimed that Manchester City have already submitted an offer of around £25million.
However, it seems Arsenal are now prepared to rival that interest as they weigh up a move for the £30m-rated winger. That's £30m-rated by Benfica, we should add.
LIVERPOOL CLOSE IN ON CISSOKHO
After Brendan Rodgers admitted that he hopes to sign a new left-back, Aly Cissokho has emerged as Liverpool's leading target for the role.
The Daily Mail claim the Reds are close to securing a season-long loan for the Valencia man, although Sunderland are also sniffing around in a bid to hijack the deal.
According to the Mail: 'The Anfield club would pay an initial loan fee of around £850,000 with an agreement to pay a further £3.5million to buy the player outright next summer.
'The 25-year-old France international joined Valencia from Lyon for £7m but the Spanish side are cutting costs after missing out on the Champions League.'
Although Cissokho is meant to provide competition for Jose Enrique, it's thought that his arrival could spell the end of the Spaniard's time at Anfield.
