BALE DONE...BUT NOT DONE
Now if you follow the wonderful F365 Transfer Blog then you will have known on Thursday morning that AS (essentially the mouthpiece of Real Madrid) were claiming that a £104.5m fee has been agreed between Tottenham and Real Madrid for Gareth Bale. On Friday the English newspapers catch up, with the Daily Mirror claiming: 'Real Madrid have agreed to pay £105million in a part-exchange deal for Gareth Bale.'
The identity of the players in this part-exchange deal seems to be the bone of contention with the Mirror claiming: 'Tottenham insist there is still work to be done though, with the clubs as yet unable to agree on which Real players will travel in the opposite direction as part of the move. Levy wants any cash offer to exceed the world record £80m paid by Manchester United to Real (that's their mistake, not ours - Ed) for Cristiano Ronaldo four years ago, before a player is included.'
Fabio Coentrao is the one name that keeps cropping up as Angel Di Maria is apparently not keen on being shunted to London and Real have said that neither Luka Modric nor Alvaro Morata will be included in any deal.
SUAREZ IS ANGRY BOY
We will stick with the Daily Mirror for the other big saga of the summer as they claim: 'Luis Suarez is refusing to give up on a £40million transfer to Arsenal after angrily claiming Liverpool AGREED to let him go.' We've all heard about this supposed £40m clause that the Uruguayan and his advisors believe will see him force his way out of Anfield but John Cross is claiming a whole new agreement...
'Suarez's people claim they met with Rodgers and the Liverpool hierarchy in June to discuss the player's future, after he insisted he wanted to leave. Guardiola expressed Suarez's anger and said he wanted to quit if an offer came in from a big club which had qualified for the Champions League.
'They claim Liverpool verbally agreed to negotiate if an offer of more than £35m came in and that while they would never sell to bitter rivals Manchester United, offers from big London clubs, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich would be entertained.'
This could end up in legal action.
RONALDO TO UNITED...AGAIN
The Daily Star have been banging this pretty much lone drum all summer but today they go really big on this claim: 'Manchester United are locked in advanced talks to clinch the stunning return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford. United and Real Madrid have spent the past 12 days negotiating an £80m package - and the Premier League champions are increasingly confident of getting their man.'
Clearly this is a load of bollocks, but when did something being a load of bollocks ever stop us from putting it in the Gossip Column?
LIVERPOOL MOVE FOR COSTA
Either this is true or there is somebody at Liverpool who wants everybody to believe this could be true as the majority of newspapers on Friday morning seem sure that Liverpool have made a £21.85m move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.
Here's the Daily Mail: 'Brendan Rodgers has been eager to bolster Liverpool's attacking options all summer - he said in May that he wanted to 'add goals' to his squad - but Costa is not being brought in to pave the way for Luis Suarez's departure. Rodgers needs competition up front for the start of the season, as Suarez is suspended for six matches and Daniel Sturridge, who has not featured in any of Liverpool's friendlies, is recovering from an ankle ligament problem.'
Spanish newspaper AS have since declared that this is nonsense but Liverpool fans can at least dream for the day.
