REAL STILL WANT SUAREZ
The Daily Star continue to bang the Ronaldo drum on Saturday, claiming Real Madrid will move for Luis Suarez before allowing the Portuguese to return to Manchester United for £80million.
According to the Star, Real will launch a £40million bid for Suarez as soon as Gareth Bale's arrival is finalised, with Florentino Perez planning to recruit both players within the next two weeks.
'The La Liga giants know capturing Bale, and then wrapping up a £40m deal for Liverpool star Suarez, will allow them to cash in on Ronaldo who is stalling on signing a new deal at the Bernabeu,' report the paper.
'Starsport understands Liverpool expect to receive a formal offer from Madrid next week, and have already started planning for life without the striker by offering £15m for Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa.'
We're still not convinced.
ARSENAL IN FOR WILLIAMS
If Arsenal really wanted Ashley Williams, we would have expected them to have made a bid by now. The Gunners have been linked with the Swansea centre-back since the end of last season and the Daily Mirror claim Arsene Wenger is finally ready to slap in an offer.
Apparently Wenger is concerned by injuries to Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal, and sees Williams as the perfect signing to provide short-term cover and long-term competition.
According to the Mirror: 'Wenger sent scouts to watch the Wales centre-half in Europa League win against Malmo on Thursday night - proof that the 28-year-old is still on the Gunners' hit list.
'The north Londoners were initially scared off by Williams' £10million valuation, but we understand the Welsh club may now be willing to let him go for £8.5m if a top club comes in.'
We're not sure why Swansea would suddenly agree to a lower fee just two weeks before the start of the season but, hey, what do we know?
Meanwhile, Gervinho should wrap up his £7million transfer to Roma in the next few days.
GERRARD REJECTED BAYERN
Quick line from The Times now, who claim Steven Gerrard rejected a move to Bayern Munich last summer. The same Bayern Munich who went on to win just about everything. Oh, Steven.
"I had a chance to leave last year," said the Liverpool captain.
"It was for a club in the Champions League, not a Premier League club, but I wasn't tempted. I've been through that before."
Gerrard is now urging Luis Suarez to make the same decision amid reports of Arsenal planning a third bid for the striker.
"That is the message for Luis. He will get many more chances to move on if that's what he wants to do," he said.
"A player of his calibre should wait for the big ones to come. He deserves to maybe play in one of the best teams in world football - Barcelona and Real Madrid - and they will come calling for him."
