ARSENAL BACK IN FOR ROONEY
If you believe the papers, Arsenal's summer transfer window is getting more embarrassing by the day.
The Daily Mirror reports that Arsene Wenger has turned his attentions away from one truculent striker who won't be sold to another Premier League club to another.
The paper claims that Arsenal, having failed to recruit Luis Suarez, now want Wayne Rooney.
The Mirror says: 'Mirror Sport understands Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has made an approach to Manchester United and the Rooney camp was also sounded out this week.
'United boss David Moyes is adamant that Rooney is not for sale. But the striker remains unsettled and Arsenal are keen to see if a deal can be done.'
Certain amount of tail chasing going on here.
ETO'O TO CHELSEA?
Speaking of Rooney, if Chelsea don't get him, they could turn their attention to Samuel Eto'o.
The paper reports that: 'The 32-year-old is looking for a two year deal which Chelsea may offer once they exhaust their pursuit of Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.'
CHELSEA IN FOR...FALCAO?
Weird one in The Daily Express, who report that Chelsea could move for Radamel Falcao.
The paper claims that Monaco could be forced to sell their key man because of their grapples with the French tax people.
Apparently: 'But thé nouveaux-riche side are at risk of having to offload their prize asset or they may have to pay a £75m fine.'
They go on to quote French journalist Cyrille Haddouche, via the BBC, as saying: "The advantage is huge in being able to convince huge players like Falcao to move to the club.
"So the tax advantage that Monaco is considered as unfair [by the clubs], especially in a period of economic difficulties for all clubs except Paris Saint-Germain.
"For example, former winners of the league, Lyon and Lille, must now sell players in order to reach break even."
FELLAINI, UNITED BLAH
Another quick one, and The Daily Mail report that David Moyes is 'increasingly confident' of signing Marouane Fellaini, despite his release clause expiring at the end of August.
However: 'Roberto Martinez is not keen on allowing Fellaini to leave and tried to ward off United on Thursday.'
And that's all we have to say about that.
