ARSENAL STILL KEEN ON SUAREZ
Oi. We weren't given a break for very long, were we?
The Daily Mirror's Arsenal correspondent John Cross reports that 'Arsene Wenger will be given the green light to make another "mega signing" in January.'
'Mega signing' just sounds like something from Power Rangers, but apparently they're talking about a football player.
Anyway, the paper says a striker is the football player in question and, some what inevitably...
'Arsenal tried for but failed to land Liverpool's Luis Suarez in the summer, and they will keep tabs on his situation to see whether there is any softening in the Kop's stance of not selling their Uruguayan star to a club they see as a rival for a top-four finish.'
BARCA WANT COURTOIS
We forgot Victor Valdes is leaving Barcelona next year.
So, anyway, Victor Valdes is leaving Barcelona next year. That means they'll need a new goalie. And that man, according to The Daily Mail, is Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois.
Courtois is of course on loan at Atletico Madrid, and doing very well there thank you. The Mail reports that Barca prefer him to Borussia Moenchengladbach's Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
However, according to the paper, Chelsea could ask for anything up to £30million for the young Belgian.
BALE PUT PRESSURE ON SPURS
Well, erm, duh?
Here's Andre Villas-Boas on Gareth Bale's transfer to Real Madrid.
"The pressure we were subjected to by the player has been intense.
"The influence of Real Madrid has been very big and you get to a point where you have to consider if it's feasible not to accept an offer and whether you can press on with a player in that state of mind.
"Obviously, we should be happy with the transfer fee that was paid. Players want to win championships and I believe that with Gareth that is within reach.
"At the end of the day, it's up to a player to decide if he wants to stay or wants to go."
COLE NOT GOING BACK TO WEST HAM
Weird world, innit?
The Daily Star reports that Carlton Cole will not be re-signing for West Ham right now due to concerns over his fitness. And how do we know this? Because David Sullivan's son tweeted it.
"Cole is not fit enough to offer a contract," co-chairman Sullivan's son, Jack, said.
"But he's thinking over getting fit with us and improving his fitness.
"We are looking at other non contract players."
