BENZEMA TO ARSENAL IN JANUARY?
The Evening Standard said £20m yesterday afternoon and the price has been elevated to £30m in this morning's Sun. If we were Arsenal, we'd pay the £20m. It seems that Real Madrid are prepared to sell the Frenchman after boss Carlo Ancelotti 'lost patience with the 25 year-old who has scored just two goals in eight games for his club'. Real want to sign Luis Suarez, Radamel Falcao or possibly Sergio Aguero and Benzema will be sold to part-fund a move for a better striker.
This is what Real Madrid President Florentino Perez said on Tuesday: "Karim is a great player and we get offers for him all the time, every summer. All I can say is that the coach is the one who has the authority to do what he believes is right."
You might have seen these quotes on Tuesday but they do deserve repetition. Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen is at pains to underline that he is not worried about not being in the Gunners' line-up with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker the established first-choice pair, but he admits that he might have to get a fair bit more worried in January if he wants to keep his place in the Belgium side for the World Cup.
"I'll have to think about that when it's necessary. January is still a few months ahead. Of course, never playing will not be the ideal situation for me to go to the World Cup, that's for sure," Vermaelen told the Daily Mail. "People ask me if I panic because I'm not playing a lot but I'm not."
UNITED TO BUY KOKE?
Yesterday's Spanish reports are today's English reports as Manchester United are strongly linked with Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, variously described as 'the new Xavi', which of course means that Barcelona will probably buy him to replace the old Xavi. Koke - who had three Spanish caps already at the age of 21 - is an integral part of the Atletico side which has started the season in excellent form with eight straight victories.
He has a buy-out clause of £16m and apparently caught Sir Alex Ferguson's eye last season while helping Atletico win the Copa del Rey. David Moyes has about this much chance (you can't see us but we're holding our thumb and finger very close together) of buying him if Barcelona are interested.
AND THE REST
David Moyes could send Wilfried Zaha on loan because he does not feel he is ready to play for Manchester United...Championship side Wigan Athletic are struggling to afford to take South Korean striker Park Chu-Young, 28, on loan from Arsenal because of his wages - even with the Gunners paying some of the cost...Chelsea will fight it out with Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen for 22-year-old Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya...Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, 31, denies he is planning to join Barcelona next summer after completing a year-long loan with Napoli...Manchester United are winning the race to sign Brazilian Bruno Gomes with Real Madrid, Udinese and Sao Paolo all chasing the 17-year-old Desportivo Brazil forward.
Sure who needs Zaha when we have Young and Tonyv!!!!!!!!!!!- cantona7
