CHELSEA PLAN £50M SPREE
Yes it's in the Metro, but just because it's free, it doesn't mean that we can't take it seriously (on days when there's bugger all else). Basically they claim that 'Chelsea are ready to splash £50million in the January transfer window on Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula and FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala'. Mangala was strongly linked with Manchester United this summer but David Moyes was apparently put off by the £37m buy-out clause. Presumably he wanted to pay £4m more.
Jose Mourinho apparently believes he can sign Mangala for £25m while Imbula could handily cost around the same amount. That sounds an awful lot of money for a 21-year-old yet to play for France who was playing in Ligue Two just a few months ago. But this is the Metro and who are we to question the Metro?
SAM GOES TO ICELAND
We imagine that he would be fond of their Southern Fried Chicken in a frozen bucket but on this occasion, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is looking at an Icelandic striker rather than convenient frozen dinners. The Icelandic striker in question is of course Alfred Finnbogason, who has scored 11 goals for Heerenveen this season as well as helping his country to a World Cup play-off.
Allardyce doesn't have a fit striker so he's making eyes at Finnbogason with a view to moving in January. Last month he was linked with Newcastle United and we suspect he will have more than a few suitors before the transfer window opens again.
