Arsenal to move for Benzema (if Real get Suarez), Ba, Richards & Rodriguez (who Liverpool want), Chicarito to Spurs...

ARSENAL TO MOVE FOR BENZEMA
Well well, an awful lot of bullsh*t around this morning, you'll be happy to hear. Let's get cracking.

We'll start with The Sunday Mirror, who report that Arsenal are 'closing in' on a £22million deal for Karim Benzema in January.

It won't be as simple as all that though - the paper reports that the deal basically hinges on Liverpool 'caving' and selling Luis Suarez to Real Madrid.

Arsenal need a striker in January - but don't take our word for it. Here's Ivan Gazidis to explain: "We will see where Arsenal will be in January and whether or not the club will invest in another forward.

"Olivier Giroud won't be able to go on all alone until the end of the season. We need to buy."

ARSENAL & LIVERPOOL IN FOR RODRIGUEZ
Benzema might not be the only forward Arsenal are keen on in January.

The Sunday Mirror also reports that both they and Liverpool are interested in Southampton's Jay Rodriguez, who was of course recently called up to the England squad.

According to the paper, Brendan Rodgers has already asked about the forward, who he reckons can replace Suarez if he leaves.

It says here that apparently Southampton could offer Rodriguez a new contract to ward off interest from the two clubs, which sets off our 'Hang on, this story might well be the work of a nefarious agent' klaxon pretty loudly.

RICHARDS AND BA, TOO
More Arsenal stuff in The Daily Star Sunday.

Apparently the Gooners have 'revived' their interest in Micah Richards, and are keen on taking Demba Ba off Chlesea's hands too.

We're going to stick our necks out here and say neither of those will happen.

SPURS IN FOR HERNANDEZ
There was speculation in Saturday's Gossip Column that Javier Hernandez could leave Manchester United if he doesn't start getting some football, and there's more of that in the Sunday papers.

Specifically in The Sunday Telegraph, who claim that Tottenham are sniffing around Hernandez, if they can sell Emmanuel Adebayor in January.

The paper claims: 'Spurs have been keen to buy the 25-year-old Mexican for some time and will step up their interest after it became public that he has grown increasingly frustrated at his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford especially in season that culminates in a World Cup...

'Arsenal have also shown an interest in Hernández but United are unlikely to want to sell until next summer at the earliest and particularly to a Premier League rival.'

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

H

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
