Asmir Begovic to Man City with Joe Hart joining Stoke on loan, Alvaro Morata to Spurs and Matic will cost £20m...

BEGOVIC IN AT CITY?
We're taking this with a massive pinch of salt as the Daily Mirror's Alan Nixon's record on transfers is not exactly exemplary but it's certainly an interesting shout: He claims that Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini wants Asmir Begovic to replace Joe Hart and will pay £15m for the Stoke goalkeeper in January.

Now here's where it gets interesting - he also claims that Hart will be sent to Stoke on loan for the rest of the season to give him Premier League football ahead of the World Cup with City continuing to pay the majority of his £110,000-a-week wages.

It might be nonsense but it sure is interesting nonsense.

MORATA FOR SPURS?
Tottenham apparently tried in the summer to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid as part of the Gareth Bale deal but were thwarted by Carlo Ancelotti. Since then the Italian has seemingly had a change of heart and is happy to allow the Spanish U-21 striker to leave the club on loan.

'Tottenham have been back in for him and held talks with Morata, with Villas-Boas making personal contact to try to convince him to come to the Premier League,' says the Daily Mirror, who say that Jermain Defoe will be free to leave (well, not free, he'll cost money) in January if they bring in a replacement.

MATIC IS MASSIVELY EXPENSIVE
'Portuguese giants Benfica have slapped a £20million price tag on Manchester United target Nemanja Matic,' it says here in the Daily Mirror. You may remember that Matic was sold by on Chelsea for buttons as part of the David Luiz deal without playing a game for the Blues. And now the 25-year-old defensive midfielder is apparently a target for United. That's an awful lot of cash, mind.

DIEGO WANTS ARSENAL MOVE
Wolfsburg playmaker Diego claims Arsenal and Southampton are chasing him ahead of the January transfer window.

The Brazilian's contract expires at the end of the season and it is believed the 28-year-old is planning to leave Germany for a new challenge.

"I know there is interest from Premier League clubs. I have heard one of them is Arsenal," he told The Sun.

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
