UNITED, CHELSEA & REAL IN FOR MOSQUITO
Let us start with word from The Daily Mirror, who report that Manchester United have joined a whole heap of clubs keeping tabs on young Brazilian forward Mosquito.
Apparently the 17-year-old is wanted by Chelsea, Real Madrid and Juve, but any club must wait until he reaches his majority next month before making a move.
The Mirror claims: 'The Atletico Paranaense youngster's representatives are holding out for £4million for the deal which, although complicated by an ongoing dispute with former club Vasco da Gama, is a fee Chelsea are willing to match after their South American scouts passed on glowing recommendations to Stamford Bridge chiefs.'
The Mirror website provides a handy clip of Mosquito in action, but we won't bother with something as irrelevant as that, so enjoy the Yeah Yeah Yeahs ditty 'Mosquito' instead.
MONACO AFTER KOMPANY
Well, Monaco are currently sitting second in Ligue Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnn, just two points behind PSG, but it seems they want more, more, more.
The Daily Express reports that they are set to make a £17million bid for presently injured Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany in January.
And according to 'reports in France', they have already been in touch with Kompany's agent to sound him out over a move, although City are rather unlikely to sell in the upcoming transfer window.
So, probably a non-starter, then. As you were.
BARCA BACK IN FOR LUIZ
Hey, we haven't had this one for a while.
The Daily Star reports that Barcelona have revived their interest in David Luiz, with the Catalans apparently set to make a £29million bid for the defender in the transfer window.
They were apparently keen to buy Luiz in the summer, but couldn't over what the Star calls a 'dispute with Chelsea over the fee', which to us roughly translates as 'Chelsea didn't want to sell him.'
However, the paper claims: 'Barca manager Gerardo Martino is eager to bolster his defensive options with Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique increasingly injury-prone and hopes a revived bid for Luiz, 26, will ultimately end in success.'
Interestingly, this article seems to suggest Chelsea might sell him. Which seems a tad unlikely to us.
ARSENAL & LIVERPOOL DUKE IT OUT
The Daily Mail reports a scrap between Arsenal and Liverpool for a young man named Hakan Calhanoglu.
The chap in question is a young Turkish midfielder currently pulling up one or two trees for Hamburg.
The paper reports: 'The Germans could struggle to hold onto the young gun if Arsenal make a bid in the January window.
'They face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool for his signature, with Brendan Rodgers also a big fan of the 19-year-old.'
