Liverpool watch third best player in Spain, Juventus linked with 'misfit' Erik Lamela and Chelsea taregt Benfica pair.

He's rated only below Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the La Liga player ratings for the season on WhoScored as he has notched seven goals and six assists for Sevilla this season while playing behind striker Carlos Bacca. One of those assists came in Sevilla's 2-1 win at Villarreal at the weekend and that match was apparently watched by Liverpool scouts.

The Croatian international - according to the Daily Mail at least - has a buy-out clause of £33m but this is Sevilla and their financial difficulties mean that he could be available for as little as £7m. After missing out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer, Liverpool do apparently still have money available for a goalscoring midfielder.

This seems odd as Juventus are currently top of Serie A and doing quite well thank you, but the Daily Mirror claims that the Old Lady are among a glut of clubs - including Napoli and Inter Milan - who want to take Tottenham 'misfit' Erik Lamela back to Italy. There's even talk of Juve offering Mirko Vucinic in part-exchange as he has been pushed out of the Juventus side by Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

The Benfica pair in question are Lazar Markovic and Nemanja Matic with the Daily Mirror claiming 'the cash-strapped club have put a £12million price tag on Serbian winger Markovic, 19, and claim they are in discussions with Jose Mourinho's side about a January switch'. His teammate Matic is of course a former Chelsea player who was sent to Benfica as part of the David Luiz deal. He is said to be worth around £20m - but that might be a small price to pay for a genuinely excellent defensive midfielder.

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

Please Stop Telling Us What To Think

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

Wenger hails important win

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
