MOURINHO TO RETURN FOR ROONEY

Jose Mourinho is confident he can finally complete a deal for Wayne Rooney in the summer, report The Telegraph.

Chelsea had two bids for the England striker rejected last year, but Mourinho has been encouraged by United's failure to sign Rooney to a new contract.

The striker has just 18 months remaining on his current deal and it's thought that he remains open to a move as United dawdle over an extension.

'Jose Mourinho has rejected a host of strikers already offered to him as January signings because he is convinced he can land Wayne Rooney at the end of the season,' report The Telegraph.

'Manchester United's crisis has only strengthened Mourinho's belief that he can eventually land Rooney for a reasonable fee, with the 28-year-old's contract running down.

'United are confident that Rooney will sign a new contract if the club finish in the top four of the Premier League and are insistent they will reject bids for him even if they do not.'

The Telegraph also add the interesting line that Rooney could attempt to buy out the last year of his contract under FIFA regulations if United say no dice to Chelsea's offer.

RAKITIC TO REJECT PREM INTEREST

Ivan Rakitic has snubbed interest from Manchester United and Liverpool to remain at Sevilla.

The midfielder has been in dazzling form this season, claiming eight goals and six assists in 16 La Liga matches, leading to speculation that he could move to the Premier League in a £15million deal.

However, here's what he had to say: "For the time being, I only think about Sevilla.

"I have important matches ahead of me and additional responsibilities as captain of the team, so leaving is not something I'm considering now."

Booooooo. We want transfers.

ARSENAL TOLD MORATA PRICE

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have been quoted a fee of £1.7million to loan Alvaro Morata until the end of the season.

It was initially thought that Real Madrid would reject any interest in the striker, but it seems they have since warmed to the idea of a temporary switch.

'It comes after the Spain Under-21 international admitted he is open to a loan move in search of more regular first-team action,' report the Mirror.

'Both Wenger's Gunners and title rivals Liverpool are admirers of the talented 21-year-old.'

LIVERPOOL SWITCH SIGHTS TO YARMOLENKO

Liverpool are eyeing a move for Dinamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old Ukraine international has scored 14 goals in 38 matches for his country and will reportedly cost around £15million.

Yarmolenko is apparently seen as an alternative to Basle's Mohamed Salah after the Swiss club increased their asking price for the winger.

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
