Victor Valdes could move to City rather than Monaco, Spurs chase Chelsea youngster Bamford, Kagawa to Besiktas and...

Well, this one has rather come out of nowhere, but the Daily Star this morning report that Manchester City have moved to the front of the queue to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes when he leaves the Camp Nou this summer.

We had assumed that the goalkeeper would join Monaco, and the principality certainly seemed like Vlades' likely destination, but the paper claim that the goalkeeper has failed to sign the pre-contract agreement needed to confirm the deal.

Whether signing a 32-year-old who would presumably have designs on being the no.1 at the Etihad when Joe Hart is back demonstrating close to his best form is a good idea, we'll let you decide. We're unconvinced.

But what's this to seal the deal? A quote from Pellegrini to confirm interest? Well, not really. "He's not in our thoughts right now." Ah.

We tend to think that whilst Shinji Kagawa has largely failed to impress during his time at Old Trafford, he is still capable of doing a pretty fine job at another of Europe's bigger clubs. More of a wrong place, wrong time thing.

Quite whether Besiktas come under that remit is questionable at best, but the Manchester Evening News this morning go big on their claim that the Turkish club have put the Japanese midfielder at the top of their summer list.

Either way, it's a crying shame.

The Metro today make the interesting claim that Tottenham may make a summer move for young Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, who has been scoring all manner of goals in the Football League this season.

Bamford, who joined Chelsea two years ago from Nottingham Forest, has scored 26 times on loan for MK Dons and Derby, for whom he has five goals in seven Championship matches.

According to reports, Tim Sherwood has made Bamford one of his top summer targets, and hopes to take the 20-year-old on a permanent deal.

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
