UNITED IN FOR GERMAN PAIR
It has long seemed likely that Schalke midfield dreamboat Julian Draxler would end up at either Bayern Munich or Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners recently admitting that they made a fair old attempt to bring the German to London in January.

However, The People this morning go rather big on the story that Manchester United wuite fancy getting involved in all this, and will step up their interest in making a move at the end of the season.

Elsewhere in the same paper, it is also claimed that United will offer Shinji Kagawa as a makeweight in a deal to sign Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, which we think would be an excellent, if slightly optimistic, double signing.

Watch this space seems to be the message, but there is no doubting that the papers believe United to be going hard at it to avoid the c*ck ups of last summer.

CHELSEA TO SIGN MARIO (BUT NOT THAT ONE)

There have been some rumours of late that Jose Mourinho would be interested in resuming his professional relationship with Mario Balotelli, but The Sun today make noises regarding a very different Mario joining Chelsea this summer.

With the impending arrival of Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich, Mario Mandzukic may well be looking for a new club of his own, with Pep Guardiola typically using just one striker as the focal point in attack.

Mandzukic joined Bayern from Wolfsburg in 2012, and has since scored an impressive 32 goals in 47 Bundesliga games, his goals also helping Croatia to the World Cup.

One thing is for sure: Chelsea need a striker.

COLE TO REAL MADRID?

After losing his first-team place at Stamford Bridge to Cesar Azpilicueta, it seems an almost certainty that Ashley Cole will leave Chelsea this summer, with the full-back out of contract at the end of the season.

Now 33, the logical step for Cole was thought to be a move out to the MLS, possibly at LA Galaxy or New York Red Bulls, but the People today claim that he could be in line for an altogether more attractive offer. They report that Carlo Ancelotti, who managed Cole during his time at Chelsea, is interested in offering the defender a two-year deal to join Real Madrid.

However, the paper also concede that Cole could still agree a one-year extension to his deal at Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho keen to keep him as backup. Options, options.
