Some wonderful guesswork on the part of numerous news outlets this morning regarding the future of Angel Di Maria.

We have taken the Daily Star's bold claim, namely that the Argentinean does not want to return to Real Madrid (where he understandably feels unwanted), but has also become frustrated at Paris St Germain's ability to seal a transfer deal, either loan or permanent. With that in mind, they claim that Di Maria would instead prefer a £45million move to Manchester United.

And then you have AS, who claim that Di Maria is expected to return to the Bernabeu on August 5th in preparation for the new season. They now want him, you see.

And then you have Marca, who today claim that the transfer of Di Maria to PSG will be announced this week for £51million.

At least two of them are wrong.

With the news that Liverpool have pulled out of a deal to sign Loic Remy, it was only a matter of time before they got linked with another Southampton player. In fairness, it has been more than 12 hours since Dejan Lovren arrived.

shoutSport today claim that an enquiry has been made as to the availability of Jay Rodriguez, who is yet to sign a proposed new deal at St. Mary's.

Unfortunately for shoutSport, they don't discuss either a potential fee or wages, and fail to address the fact that Rodriguez has targeted a December return from his serious anterior cruciate injury, which would surely make this an odd time to seal his purchase. Classic 2 + 2 = 5 stuff?

Nipping over to Spain now courtesy of AS, who go big on claims that, should Real miss out on the signing of Radamel Falcao this summer, Romelu Lukaku is there other option.

This gossiper can't quite believe that Chelsea will let him go without ever giving him a significant chance in the league, and those thoughts only increase when the likes of Real Madrid are linked.

AS also use reports from Italy in Corriere dello Sport which claim that Juventus are in a strong position to sign Lukaku, with Giuseppe Marotta making him one of the Old Lady's top summer priorities.

One thing is for sure, there will be no shortage of takers.

Manchester United have been told they will have to pay £79m for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman... Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen will sign a new contract with Tottenham... Gus Poyet wants to bring Cristian Rodriguez to Sunderland from Atletico Madrid... Inter Milan hope to finalise a £15million deal for Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo... Ronald Koeman wants to sign Norwich midfielder Leroy Fer... Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is interested in former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

@lfcfan.....was that your attempt at humour? Looks like your BS argument has run out of steam to me. For future reference, don't comment on United unless you actually know what you're talking about, ok sweetie? My nickname is actually aimed at clowns like you who invent their own version of reality, it's no surprise you didn't get that either. Not the brightest are you?
