Leon Osman: Determined to take chance

The 31-year-old made his international debut in the friendly defeat to Sweden in November and has kept his place in the squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.

Osman admits that is a huge boost and expressed his determination to work hard for another opportunity to get on the field.

"To still be in the squad means the world to me," he said, quoted in The Sun.

"I just need to keep my head down, keep working hard and if another chance comes, I have got to take it."

Osman did his chances no harm on Saturday by scoring against Manchester City with a left-footed drive from distance - outfoxing England goalkeeper Joe Hart in the process.

He added: "I'm not sure if I have hit one better - but Joe is a fantastic keeper and I can't ask for more than to beat him from there."
