Rickie Lambert: Fears for his England place

Southampton ace Lambert started both games against Moldova and Ukraine in the absence of the injured Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge.

Lambert, who scored against Moldova, is under no illusions that competition for places in Roy Hodgson's side will be fierce when the likes of Rooney, Sturridge and Danny Welbeck could all be available to play.

"I understand that there will be much more competition," said Lambert.

"Obviously I understood that the chances of me playing in Ukraine if everyone was available were very slim anyway.

"But we want Wayne, Daniel and Andy Carroll back in the squad as well.

"They are all great players. All I can try to do is give them another option and try to impress."

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
