Alan Hutton: Poised for Mallorca move

Scotland international Hutton has not featured for the midlands club this term, but is poised to end his frustration with a move to Mallorca on an initial loan deal, pending a medical.

Villa confirmed on their official website that the full-back will remain with the Balearic Islands side until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal being concluded over the summer.

Hutton moved to Villa Park in 2011 from Tottenham in a deal thought to be worth £3million and although he was a regular under Alex McLeish last season, he largely underperformed.

When Paul Lambert arrived from Norwich over the summer, Hutton was rumoured to be heading for the exit door when he was left out of the 25-man squad for the pre-season tour of the United States.

The former Rangers man has spent part of this season on loan with npower Championship side Nottingham Forest.

And even though Villa are hovering just above the Barclays Premier League relegation zone, Lambert has refused to issue Hutton a lifeline.

Should his move to the Iberostar Stadium go ahead, the 28-year-old will join a Mallorca side currently lying 19th in La Liga.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!
