Neil Warnock: Poised to leave Elland Road in the summer

Leeds midfielder Paul Green would be "gutted" if manager Neil Warnock keeps his promise and opts to walk away from the club at the end of the season.

Warnock's appointment as successor to Simon Grayson in February 2012 was one of the main reasons Green chose to sign for Leeds when his contract expired at Derby last summer.

But the Leeds boss is ready to step aside after the weekend defeat to Huddersfield dealt the club's outside play-off hopes a major blow.

"Obviously when I signed here he was a big factor in my decision," Green told Press Association Sport. "The gaffer and his record in this league and he still has the hunger and drive.

"That's what you want as a player, to see that passion from your manager and that was a big factor in me signing.

"You just never know. Paddy (Kenny) always jokes and says he was going to retire when he left Sheffield United, but the hunger in his belly and his desire, you just never know.

"I'd like him to stay on. You'd have to ask him, but for me I'd be gutted if he did leave because I do think he's a top manager."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
