Gareth Bale: Odds-on to stay at Tottenham

Sky Bet make Gareth Bale 8/13 to stay at Tottenham despite the club failing to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

The Welshman guided Spurs to a 1-0 win over Sunderland on the final day of the season with his 21st Premier League goal of the campaign, but they needed to better Arsenal's result at Newcastle to finish inside the top four.

The Gunners duly beat the Magpies at St. James' Park, meaning Tottenham will have to settle for the Europa League next term, but Bale is only priced at 6/5 to leave the club before September.

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "Bale clearly has a good relationship with Andre Villas-Boas at Tottenham and, if he can keep hold of the Welshman this summer, Spurs might be worth a look as an outside bet at 22/1 to win next season's Premier League.

"With the top three teams to have new managers, Tottenham and Arsenal (14/1) could well be the most settled sides at the beginning of the campaign, but Andre Villas-Boas must first convince his main man to stay, and we believe he'll do so."

Should Bale decide to leave, Real Madrid are favourites (100/30) for his signature, followed by Manchester United at 7/2 and Manchester City at 6/1.

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
