AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has signed a one-year contract extension, tying him to the San Siro club until 2014.

The 35-year-old, who joined the Rossoneri from Monza in 1998, made 35 appearances in all competitions this season as Milan finished third in Serie A and reached the last 16 of the Champions League.

A statement published on the club's official website read: "AC Milan wish to communicate that Christian Abbiati has extended his contract with the club to June 30, 2014."

Abbiati has also spent time on loan at Juventus, Torino and Atletico Madrid and earned four Italy caps between 2003 and 2005.
