Jonathan Spector: Closing in on new deal at St Andrew's

Birmingham boss Lee Clark is confident Blues duo Jonathan Spector and Wade Elliott will pledge their respective futures to the club in the near future.

Spector has been offered a new two-year contract, with Elliott being handed a one-year deal, plus an additional one-year option.

Spector agreed his deal late on Tuesday and is expected to sign once returning from America.

Clark said: "Hopefully we can get both Jonathan and Wade tied up very shortly because they can play a massive part for us in terms of them being experienced players.

"We really need to get things resolved quickly because for me as a manager I need to start planning."

On Elliott's future, Clark added: "The indications I'm getting from Wade are that he's prepared to sign and ready to sign.

"We're just waiting until it's done and dusted, although you should never say never."
