Tony Pulis: Linked with Crystal Palace

Tony Pulis has admitted he is eager to return to Premier League management after being strongly linked with Crystal Palace, but will only take on the "right" job.

The former Stoke boss is among the favourites to take over at Selhurst Park following Ian Holloway's departure at the start of last week.

Palace co-chairman Steve Parish admitted during the press conference to confirm Holloway's exit by mutual consent that Pulis would be the calibre of candidate they were interested in, and later confirmed he was planning to speak with the 55-year-old.

Pulis, who left the Britannia Stadium after seven years at the helm in the summer, would not be drawn on if any discussions had taken place with the Eagles and insisted that any return to management would have to suit all the parties involved.

He told Sky Sports News: "I've had a good break and I've enjoyed it. It has been lovely to be home with the family but I'm starting to get itchy feet.

"I think it has just got to be right, and it has got to be right for everybody.

"You talk about taking over at a football club if a club wants you, but it has also got to be right for the manager going in there.

"Whether it is clubs that people have talked about or not, it is just finding the right fit, and hopefully one of those will come along pretty quickly."

e'll be fine, no problem. If they do get relegated, he's definitely going to ask how anyone could ever have thought that Villa were going to be fine given their problems before he came.

toke though. Hmn. I don't think it was defending that made people dislike Stoke so much as the out and out cheating/nastiness they regularly displayed. That, and they kept buying the odd flair player and then ruining them (Oh! Tuncay, what were you thinking?).

ell that really inspires me with confidence. No point in training, deciding on a coherent formation, or playing players in their best positions, let's just hope we get lucky.
