Mathieu Valbuena has put pen to paper on a new Marseille deal to commit his future to the club until the summer of 2017.

The France international had been linked with a move to clubs such as Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club coming closest to securing his signature.

However, he has now put an end to the speculation by signing a contract extension and is thrilled to be staying.

"I am delighted to sign a contract with Marseille," he said.

"Fernerbahce wanted me but they could not agree with Marseille.

"I will play for this great club any time they need me."
