Scunthorpe have confirmed the release of seven first-team players as the North Lincolnshire club prepare for life in League Two.

Captain Paul Reid and Karl Hawley head the list having made over 100 appearances between them for the club and they are joined by Josh Walker, Damien Mozika, Akpo Sodje, Andy Barcham and Robbie Gibbons.

Reid joined the club from Colchester in January 2011 while journeyman Hawley scored 11 goals in 39 appearances for the Iron having signed from Notts County early this season.

The club have also confirmed they are in negotiations with Jimmy Ryan, James Severn, Matt Godden, Eddie Nolan, Michael Collins and Tom Newey over remaining at Glanford Park while taking up options for contract extensions with Niall Canavan, Mark Duffy and Callum Howe as they look to reshape their squad.
