Pilkington, who last summer rejected a contract offer from former club Luton to sign a new deal with the Stags, will remain with Rovers for two months.

The 30-year-old ex-Everton trainee made his first appearance for Forest Green on Sunday as they warmed up for the new Conference campaign with a pre-season win at Weston-Super-Mare.

The Gloucestershire side, who are tipped to do well this time round, begin the season with a home clash against Hyde on Saturday.
