The 29-year-old will remain at Deepdale until January 2 and returns to the club he spent six months on loan at in 2007.

Gallagher is yet to appear for the Foxes this season but North End boss Simon Grayson hopes to count on his experience.

Grayson told the club's official site: "We felt that we wanted to improve the squad and looked at certain positions and areas of the pitch that we could strengthen and Paul is obviously an experienced Championship player, played in the Premiership and can play in a variety of positions."
