Ryan McGivern: Up for the cup

The 23-year-old defender is set to cap off the season on loan from Manchester City in memorable style in the showpiece at Hampden Park.

Hibs have gone on a six-match unbeaten run since losing 3-0 to Celtic in the SPL back in April and McGivern believes this momentum will help the underdogs.

"We've picked up some good results and we've got a bit of momentum going into the final so hopefully we can finish off the season in the right way," he told Sky Sports.

"Celtic are the champions of the league and rightly so, they've been the best team, and we know it's going to be a massive, massive challenge for us on the day.

"But we go into the game with a bit of momentum and plenty of confidence about the team and the squad and the club in general and obviously it gives us that bit more of a chance."

He added: "Hopefully maybe they can have a little bit of an off day on the day and everyone in the green shirts for Hibs puts in 110 per cent and get a bit of luck on the way and hopefully we'll be lifting the trophy.

"It would mean everything (to win), not just for me but for the whole club and the fans especially."

The defender, who has made 31 appearances for Hibs since joining on loan last August, admits to feeling excited.

He said: "(I'm) massively excited. Obviously, cup finals don't come around very often and other players don't get to play them throughout their career.

"So these are the games that, if you're growing up, you aspire to play in and at the end of the day, it's trying to win the game and that's something we'll be trying to do."

While he has loved his time at Hibs, McGivern does not know yet what his future holds.

"Not at the minute, no. Just concentrating on the cup final and hopefully winning the Scottish Cup and then we'll have a sit down and I'm sure I'll make a decision then once we get this cup final out of the way."
