Gerrard, who won his 100th cap for England in midweek against Sweden, recently clocked up his 600th appearance for Liverpool in an illustrious career for club and country.

The 32-year-old is keen to continue playing for the foreseeable future, but admits he will look into getting his coaching badges when he does quit international football.

"I'm going to go into my coaching badges after my England days are over and when I've got the time," Gerrard told the FA's official website.

"When the international breaks are on, I'll go and do my coaching badges and we'll see where it goes."

Gerrard insists he will not rush into pursuing a career in management and admits he cannot expect to be a successful coach because of his achievements as a player.

"I've always said I'll only become a coach or a manager if I'm good enough," added Gerrard.

"I don't think you go down that road because you've been a decent player. That's a mistake that a lot of footballers have made.

"Only go down that road if you're good enough. You have to try it, get your badges first and make sure you're comfortable and have your own belief in your own knowledge of the game."

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
