Player-manager Gareth Ainsworth put the seal on a vital win for Wycombe as they continued their climb away from the foot of the table with victory over fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers at Adams Park.

Joel Grant gave Wanderers an 11th-minute lead and Ainsworth's second in the 55th minute clinched Wycombe's win, while Rovers' woes were increased when they had Matthew Lund sent off in stoppage time.

It was the Chairboy's third league success in a row and puts them in 19th, with the Pirates down in 22nd, one point and one place above the relegation zone.

Rochdale's play-off push was jolted by a 3-2 defeat at home to York, who streaked into a 3-0 half-time lead through a double from Michael Potts and one for Jason Walker. Rhys Bennett and a Bobby Grant penalty briefly gave Dale hope. The Minstermen are 14th in the table.

Torquay beat Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 at Plainmoor to move up to eighth spot. Danny Stevens opened the scoring on 36 minutes and, after Matthew Saunders equalised on 73 for the visitors, Abu Ogogo's own goal gave the Gulls the points.
