Rafael Benitez called for Chelsea to be more clinical and again defended Fernando Torres following the 1-0 Europa League win at Sparta Prague.
he day Tonys hat goes missing for some bantz will be different story altogether..
m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

He is one of a number of solid shouts for players that look old before their time. We also have the final words on lovely D-Beck and a rejection of end of season playoffs...
That's one opinion, but others give their thanks to the man. We also have ideas for a relegation playoff, happy memories of the season and a defence of Liverpool's campaign...

I think if Jose were to come back, though I believe that would be highly unlikely, he'd stipulate that Emenalo would either have to go or have any squad responsibilities removed from his job.

He's a decent enough player but, as you say, not really a "prospect" is he? We need to get a manager who insists on more control (and ideally being rid of Emenalo as technical director). We must be at the point where all decent managers won't touch the job with a bargepole. Maybe that might tip the balance in a manager's favour and the board might sit up and listen?

@ted maul in fairness to the fat chump he could hardly bring those players on, he's clearly alluded to the fact he's had no control over players going out on loan and I'd believe him there as it's Emenalo who's signed all those players out on loan. But using Benayoun over Oscar was irritating in the first place, with Moses back we should have less need to use a player who has no future at the club. Not that I have any beef with Yossi, as he comes across as a reasonably nice chap.

Everyone in the world can see Torres is damaged goods and the fat waiter doesn't have a clue - Oh' except the board at Chelsea, what will it take to get rid of Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber?

@petulant - and they were lauding the substitution on the BBC live feed and even suggesting Chelsea fans would have mocked Rafa for taking off Mata! When we have Courtois, De Bruyne, Piazon and Thorgan Hazard out on loan, the use of Benayoun seems even more laughable!

A team who had a bit better accuracy in their shots would have decimated us in that game, if after this season Abramovich does not admit his mistake with Torres then whatever manager we have is screwed from the start. People will say Benitez's change won the game, but it should have been a lot earlier...Also, can we not play one of the under 21's up front? What about Islam Feruz? Anyone but sodding Torres...

Instead of defending Torres, maybe he should be telling him to be more clinical, the amount of chances that have been created for him that he has missed, I swear someone like RVP would have scored 40 goals by now.

That's enough now. I can't watch another display like that from Torres. I also can't work out what Benitez has against Oscar. At 0-0 one of the commentaters on ESPN pointed put that Rafa would change nothing by strolling round the technical area and that a substitution was needed. I was screaming for Oscar (good scoring record in Europe and all that) and Benitez brought on Benayoun! When he DID finally bring on Oscar, he scored seconds later. Maybe it's time we went Spanish and played with no striker (although you could argue we've done that all season)? This interim management can't be interim enough for me. Still at least we "controlled" the game eh Rafa? (We really didn't)
