Cech: We'll speak our minds

Goalkeeper Petr Cech insists Chelsea players will continue to speak their minds as they look to get back to the top of the tree.

On a kind of (not) related subject... why is it that Abramovich is always called 'Roman' by both Chelsea supporters and supporters of other clubs? Not criticising Synergy as I've done it myself in the past but it's begun to kind of strike me as a bit strange you know... 'Roman', a bit matey, a bit blokey... 'Roman me old buddy'... thing is, can you actually think of anyone, in the world, who by their apparent demenour and actions gives off a less approachable / matey air than he does... except possibly Blofeld, maybe? Or Kim Jong Un? I'm thinking of starting a gentle and very civilized campaign on here to get everyone to refer to him simply as 'Abramovich' until he agrees to stop making our - whoops, sorry, 'his' - club look like a borderline sociopathic, corporate manager crusher or even just till he agrees to say something. Anything actually. A second thought struck me that maybe everyone's calling him 'Roman' ironically and I'm the only one who hasn't been told... Sigh... it was never this difficult when John Neal was in charge :-)

@Petulant_Radish - Now now, play nice, Synergy made a very good point. Chelsea did outbid us on a few players, which in turn meant we had to go for our second choices. He was just stating a fact is all.

Where are the Arsenal fans to answer if they would rather have 10 managers and 6 trophies or one manager and no trophies?

Oh poor, poor United. It must be so hard on you not being able to break the transfer market records year after year any more, please borrow my violin so you can sit in the corner playing it forlornly with big puppy dog eyes.

Synergy says...

"But, obviously, we have only one boss and that's the manager" - History says otherwise. The boss seems to be the old guard. Cross them and they revolt and the manager gets the sack.

And while Cech is correct in the trophies count. He is incorrect that it was won due to their managerial musical chairs. Trophies were won, coz Roman spent hundreds of millions on getting every rated player to the club, outbidding United in the process (for a while it seemed they had no scouts and just bought anyone United bid for), so not just strengthening Chelseas ranks, but forcing United to go for their second and often third option in the transfer market.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!
