Andre Villas-Boas made Dawson available for transfer last summer, but he chose to rebuff QPR's overtures and stayed at Tottenham, where he has since broken back into the first team.

Reports on Wednesday morning suggested Dawson could be included in the Three Lions squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.

The 29-year-old has not played for England for almost two years and admits he would love to earn a recall.

"It would be a dream (to be recalled)," the centre-back told TalkSPORT.

"I got asked this question when I first got back in to the Spurs team. Then, I just had to concentrate on staying in the Tottenham team.

"Now I'm playing regularly for Tottenham...Fingers crossed. It would be nice to get that England call-up."

Villas-Boas recently admitted he made a mistake by letting Dawson speak to QPR, and the player himself is grateful to the Portuguese for giving him a second chance at Spurs.

"The gaffer has been very honest with me from day one," the former Nottingham Forest man said.

"I spoke to him after pre-season and he told me there might not be as many opportunities as I would have liked. It was my decision to stay and fight for my position.

"I was out there every day training hard and thankfully the manager has seen that and he has put me back in.

"As a player you can only ask for honesty. The manager has been great. I'm glad to be back playing."

He's played well recently and probably deserves it, still worried he's a bit slow and once Kaboom is back he might find his chances limited again. Our CB pairing of choice is probably Kaboom and Vertonghen with Caulker as back up.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
