Usual suspects Paolo Di Canio and Nigel Adkins are 10/1 joint-favourites with BetVictor for the vacant position as next manager of Blackburn.

The Championship club are looking for their sixth manager of the season after the sacking of Michael Appleton earlier on Tuesday.

BetVictor spokesperson Charlie McCann said: "Steve Kean's 21-month reign as Rovers manager, which ended in September, is beginning to look like one of Sir Alex Ferguson proportions after the club sacked Mike Appleton this morning having also got rid of Henning Berg already this season.

"Rovers are thus looking for a fourth full-time manager this season and it would be fair to say the vacancy is beginning to look like a poisoned chalice; that said the Venky's look sure to be inundated with applications from potential managers and we makes former Saints' boss Adkins and former Swindon Town manager Di Canio 10/1 joint favourites with Mark Hughes 12/1 to return to Ewood Park."

Next permanent Blackburn boss:

N Adkins 10/1

P Di Canio 10/1

G Bowyer 10/1

M Hughes 12/1

R Di matteo 14/1

A Shearer 16/1

S McLaren 16/1
