At a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Cyprus in 2012, a study was initiated into the scheduling of the tournament and its format.

The suggestion was made that the 2015 tournament in the Czech Republic would be the last in an odd-numbered year, with later editions to be held in even-numbered years.

Platini, speaking at a press conference in Jerusalem ahead of Tuesday's final between Spain U21 and Italy U21, explained the national associations initiated the study with a view to giving more focus and attention to women's tournaments.

"The way I would manage these tournaments is not necessarily the same as the executive committee," said Platini. "We meet many times, and we talk about many different possibilities.

"In Cyprus two years ago, we talked about the women's game and we thought maybe the calendar should change. We wanted to give more prominence to women's football.

"Today, we're back tracking and at our next Executive Committee meeting in Dubrovnik in August / September, we will again be discussing the young tournaments.

"No decision has yet been made, it's not final - we will talk again."

Platini also praised the Israeli Football Association for its hosting of the 2013 tournament, particularly in the face of political opposition from pro-Palestinian sympathisers.

"Everything was fantastically organised," he added. "Everyone was happy to be there, and there lots of families at the grounds.

"As for politics, I am not involved in that. We have had similar problems in Ukraine and Poland recently.

"We know there are some people who demonstrate in favour of one side or another. They're entitled to demonstrate and we as UEFA want to work in cooperation with others to help.

"I want everybody to play football and from my perspective, the IFA has the same rights as any other association."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
