Scott McDonald and Danny Shittu had put Millwall two goals to the good, but Sam Vokes and a Shane Lowry own goal saw Burnley earn a share of the spoils.

Chris Wood got a fortunate opener for Leicester at Watford as Manuel Almunia's clearance hit him in the face and rebounded into the net, before Anthony Knockaert and Lloyd Dyer rounded off a 3-0 win.

QPR remain third in the table after a 2-1 home win over Derby.

Jermaine Jenas put the Rs ahead only for Simon Dawkins to level, before captain Clint Hill grabbed the winner.

Sheffield Wednesday recorded their first win of the season with a handsome 5-2 home success over Reading.

Matty Fryatt and Michail Antonio had put Wednesday 2-0 up before Pavel Pogrebnyak got a goal back for the Royals.

A Sean Morrison own goal, a Connor Wickham strike and Fryatt's second put the result beyond doubt, with Adam Le Fondre's late penalty scant consolation for the visitors.

Thomas Ince's missed penalty did not prove costly for Blackpool as the Seasiders secured a 1-0 win over 10-man Nottingham Forest.

Ince saw his first-half spot-kick saved by Karl Darlow after Djamel Abdoun had seen red for his foul on Neal Bishop in the area.

But Stephen Dobbie struck late on to give the visitors the spoils.

Birmingham slipped into the relegation zone as Dale Stephens got the only goal in Charlton's 1-0 win at St Andrew's, while a Ross McCormack double gave Leeds a 2-0 home victory over bottom side Yeovil.

Jason Lowe's goal was enough to see Blackburn beat Middlesbrough 1-0, while David Ngog and Jermaine Beckford struck as Bolton were 2-0 winners at Bournemouth.

Nick Powell got the winner as Wigan beat Huddersfield 2-1 at the DW Stadium.

Leon Barnett put the Latics ahead before Oliver Norwood levelled for the Terriers, but Powell made the decisive contribution four minutes into the second half.

Two late goals saw Brighton wrap up a 3-1 win at Doncaster.

The Seagulls, who had not scored in their four previous away games, led through a Jake Forster-Caskey strike until Chris Brown levelled for Rovers. But substitutes Leroy Lita and David Lopez ensured the visitors took all three points.

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
