Tim Sherwood: Turned around Spurs' fortunes

TEAMtalk takes a look at all the key Opta statistics ahead of the weekend's Premier League action with Steven Gerrard primed and ready to add to his 11 goals against Aston Villa - more than he has managed against any other opponent in the Premier League.

Villa will have Christian Benteke in action and he has scored three goals in three Premier League appearances against Liverpool.

Manchester City, who surprisingly have made more errors leading to goals (9) than any other side this season, host Cardiff.

Super Sunday sees Chelsea host Manchester United and there have been five penalties awarded in the last four meetings between these two sides at Stamford Bridge.

Sunderland v Southampton (12.45pm)

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions against Southampton (W3 D3).

Southampton are unbeaten in their last five league trips to the Stadium of Light (W1 D4).

The Saints have scored exactly one goal in each of their last five trips to the Stadium of Light in all competitions.

Sunderland have won fewer points at home in the Premier League this season than any other side (7).

Southampton have won just one of their last seven Premier League away games (W1 D3 L3).

Sunderland have lost only one of their last six Premier League games (W2 D3 L1).

Since December 14th 2013, seven of Southampton's eight Premier League goals have come from Englishmen.

Southampton (9th position) are seven points adrift of 7th place but seven points clear of 10th place.

Sunderland haven't won successive Premier League games since last April.

Artur Boruc has a saves-to-shots ratio of 81% in the Premier League this season, compared to 44% for Kelvin Davis and 38% by Paolo Gazzaniga.

Arsenal v Fulham

Fulham have never won away at Arsenal in any competition, losing 22 of the 27 visits to the Gunners. They have, however, drawn the last two.

Darren Bent has scored eight goals in his last 10 appearances in all competitions against Arsenal, including five in the last four.

Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski have both scored three goals in three Barclays Premier League appearances against Fulham.

There have been four red cards in the last six Premier League meetings between these London rivals, but all of them have come at Craven Cottage.

This match will be Arsenal's 200th Premier League London derby (W103 D55 L41 F338 A190) and their 100th on home soil (W58 D25 L16 F184 A91). They have averaged more points per game (1.83) from London derbies than any other team, while only Palace (0.90) have averaged fewer per match than Fulham (0.93).

Arsenal have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight games in all competitions at the Emirates Stadium, conceding just one goal in the other match during this run.

Fulham have allowed 133 shots on target this season, more than any other club in the Premier League.

Arsenal can match their best run of the season with a win in this game (five wins in a row).

This would be the 19th time Arsenal have won 5+ Premier League games in a row.

Arsenal have played 39 through balls this season (a joint-high with Liverpool), Fulham have played only eight.

Crystal Palace v Stoke City

Only four teams in Premier League history have had fewer goals after 21 games than Palace do (13).

Stoke City have won five and lost just one of their last seven games against Crystal Palace in all competitions.

The Potters have won none of their last eight Barclays Premier League away games (L6 D2).

Mark Hughes' side have conceded at least three goals in five of their last six away league games, the exception being the 0-0 draw at Hull on December 14th.

Stoke have conceded a total of 14 goals in their last four Premier League games - this after conceding only three in their previous four in the competition.

No Premier League team has picked up fewer away points than Stoke this season (5, level with Hull).

Crystal Palace's conversion rate of 7% this season is the lowest in the division (QPR had the lowest figure last season - 8%)

Selhurst Park has seen five goals from the penalty spot this season, more than any other ground in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have scored only seven goals from open play, eight players in the division have more.

Stoke have played 211 Premier League games and have scored 210 goals.

Manchester City v Cardiff City

This is the first time Cardiff have visited Manchester City in any competition since March 1985 when they escaped with a point after a 2-2 draw.

Cardiff came from behind to beat Man City 3-2 earlier in the season with all five goals in their 3-2 win coming in the second half.

Manchester City have won their last 10 straight Barclays Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium and won 15 of the last 16. Their only defeat in that run came when they had a caretaker manager in charge on the final day of the season in a dead rubber.

The Citizens have scored 38 goals on home soil this season, five more than any other team in Premier League history in their opening 10 home matches.

Cardiff have won none of their last seven Premier League away games (W0 D2 L5).

The Welsh side have failed to score in five of their last six Premier League away matches, netting just once in the other.

Man City are looking to record their seventh successive Premier League win in this game, something only achieved by one team last season (Man Utd).

Manchester City have collected 28 points from their last 10 Premier League games (W9 D1) - three more than any other team over this period.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had only been manager of Molde for four days the last time Man City failed to score in a Premier League home game (Nov 13, 2010).

Norwich City v Hull City

Ricky van Wolfswinkel has managed only four shots on target in 12 Premier League appearances.

Hull City have won three and lost none of their last five league matches against Norwich.

Hull City have kept six clean sheets this season in the Premier League, but none of these have come away from home.

The Canaries have managed only two goals in their last five Premier League outings.

No team has picked up fewer away points than Hull this season (5, level with Stoke).

Carrow Road has seen fewer goals than any other Premier League stadium this season (21).

Norwich City are one of only two teams yet to score a goal from an indirect free-kick this season (alongside Aston Villa).

Hull have hit only 158 shots (excluding blocked), fewer than any other side.

Norwich are the only Premier League team yet to see a substitute score this season.

Hull City have played 97 Premier League games and have scored 95 goals.

West Ham United v Newcastle United

West Ham have won just one of their last eight Barclays Premier League matches (W1 D2 L5).

Newcastle have failed to score in the last three Premier League games against the Hammers.

There was just one shot on target in the whole game (and that was by the Hammers) when West Ham met Newcastle at St James Park earlier this season, with the Magpies firing in 14 off target.

Kevin Nolan has scored in three of the last five meetings between West Ham and Newcastle, twice while playing for the Magpies and once for the Hammers.

Newcastle United have drawn none of their last 11 Premier League away games since a 0-0 draw at Upton Park last May.

Newcastle have gone 280 minutes without a Premier League goal, their longest run of the season.

Carlton Cole has scored three times in his last five Premier League appearances for West Ham United.

Andy Carroll has scored four goals and assisted five in his last nine Premier League appearances.

West Ham have kept nine clean sheets this season, no Premier League team has more.

West Ham have thrown away 14 points from winning positions this season, more than any other team.

Liverpool v Aston Villa (5.30pm)

Liverpool won the reverse fixture against Villa back in August with their only shot on target of the game.

Christian Benteke has scored three goals in three Premier League appearances against Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard has scored more goals against Aston Villa (11) than he has managed against any other opponent in the Premier League.

Aston Villa have lost just one of their last four Premier League visits to Anfield (W2 D1 L1).

Liverpool have conceded just six goals in their last 12 Premier League matches at Anfield and have kept six clean sheets in that run.

Brendan Rodgers' team have won 10 of their last 11 home league games (W10 D0 L1) and won the last seven in a row.

Tottenham have won four and lost none of the five Barclays Premier League meetings with Swansea.

Tottenham have lost just three of their last 21 Premier League away games and have won the last four in a row (W13 D5 L3).

Swansea have more yellow cards for dissent this season than any other side (10).

The Liberty Stadium has seen more second half goals than any other Premier League stadium this season (24)

Under Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham had the lowest conversion rate in the Premier League (7%) but in the period under Tim Sherwood they have the highest rate in the division (23%).

This season, Tottenham have averaged 2.2 goals per Premier League game under Sherwood, compared to 0.94 under AVB.

Spurs have taken 210 long throws this season, 60 more than any other side in the Premier League.

Swansea have averaged 60% possession in games this season, the highest figure in the Premier League in 2013-14.

Tottenham have conceded only four goals from set-pieces this season, a joint-low in the Premier League.

Chelsea v Manchester United (Sun, 4pm)

Javier Hernandez has scored in six of his last nine appearances in all competitions against Chelsea.
