Jermain Defoe: Knows the importance Spurs' supporters play at White Hart Lan

Spurs need a point from their final Group J match against the Greeks at White Hart Lane to qualify for the knockout phase of the competition.

Defoe, who scored a hat-trick in Spurs' last home match in the Europa League, a 3-1 win against NK Maribor, spoke of the special feeling around the stadium on European nights.

"We always have fantastic support and that helps the lads to perform," he told the club's official website.

"The European nights are special and there is so much history here.

"We want to get through to the knockout stage of the competition and as we've said all along, we want to do something special this season. Things are going well at the moment and we've just got to keep it going."

Spurs have undergone a resurgence of late, moving up to fourth in the Premier League following the 3-0 win at Fulham last weekend, their third victory in six days after beating West Ham and Liverpool.

"It's been an amazing week," he added.

"If you look at the fixtures as well, they were all tough games. To win at Craven Cottage having beaten Liverpool in the week, it's fantastic."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
