Despite being 35 points better off than their opponents, and having home advantage, Les Gones found themselves trailing to a Jordan Loties goal after 73 minutes.

However, Bastos struck eight minutes from time to consolidate Lyon's position at the top, while the result also lifted Nancy off the foot of the standings.

Marseille are three points off the leaders following a 2-1 victory at Bastia.

Mathieu Valbuena's 16th-minute strike and a 71st-minute penalty from Andrew Ayew put OM in the driving seat, before Anthony Modeste hit a late reply for the home side.

The win moved Marseille level on points with second-placed Paris St Germain.

Evian left Troyes in deep trouble at the wrong end of the standings by cantering to a 2-0 victory in their relegation encounter.

Both sides began the evening mired in the bottom three, but a goal in each half by Cedric Barbosa ensured Evian pulled three points clear of danger and into mid-table.

Defeat for Troyes means Jean-Marc Furlan's men have just nine points from 16 matches and now sit bottom of the pile, eight points from safety.

Lorient moved up to fourth with their third straight win at the expense of struggling Sochaux.

Alain Traore powerfully fired home shortly before the break and Lamine Kone added another early in the second half in a 2-0 win.

Defending champions Montpellier continued their recent resurgence with a 2-1 win at Brest.

A defensive blunder allowed Brest a 13th-minute opener for Eden Ben Basat, but a Johan Martial own goal levelled matters before John Utaka finished a fine move after 56 minutes.

Ajaccio claimed their first win in five league matches, beating struggling Reims 2-0.

Adrian Mutu netted the opener from a free-kick on the half-hour and a late own goal from Mickael Tacalfred made it another bad night for the visitors, who have now gone nine games without a win.
