Gary Bowyer: Delighted with his temporary run as Blackburn boss

Bowyer will return to reserve coach duties on Monday when newly appointed Michael Appleton takes over the reins two weeks after the sacking of Henning Berg.

When asked if he thought Appleton would be encouraged by the performance of his team, Bowyer told Sky Sports: "He has to be. The fighting qualities we showed were brilliant.

"The character of the players was first class. Wolves pumped balls into the box and we defended very well - all bar one."

Roger Johnson's second-half header helped Dean Saunders to a point in his first game in charge of Wolves after Blackburn, looking for their fourth straight win under Bowyer, had led through Jordan Rhodes's penalty.

"It was a fully deserved point," Bowyer added. "That is a big point in this season."

Regarding his role next week when Appleton begins his reign, Bowyer said: "I will pick that up with Michael. But until I'm told any different, then I'll be back as reserve team coach on Monday.

"We have to try to push some players into the first team. Josh Morris and Jason Lowe were outstanding. We need more Academy lads and development lads pushing through."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
