Eddie Quigley was the last player to achieve that feat in the 1954/55 season, with Ted Harper and Jack Southworth the other two to have scored seven in a row.

And Rhodes, 23, hopes to claim parity by being awarded the strike initially given as a Stephen Henderson own goal in the clash at Ewood Park.

Rhodes told Radio Rovers: "Nobody is taking that off me. I didn't know much about it at the time, it was one of those things where you get yourself in the right place and the ball just hits you.

"I think it took a touch off the keeper as it was on the way in, but I certainly made good contact on the ball. I didn't really see where the ball went, but I

saw it hit the back of the net and I was off."

The victory made it three on the spin under new boss Michael Appleton, and Rhodes added: "I'm just happy that we managed to get the win, but to be considered among the likes of those names and to equal a club record is fantastic."
