Liam Chilvers: Always looking to keep a clean sheet

Vale have kept a clean sheet in their last three league games and Chilvers believes the competition for places in the side is having a positive impact.

The former Arsenal trainee told the club's official website: "There is nothing we have said in terms of how many clean sheets we are going for, but we go out in every game looking to achieve that and we are just looking for as many as we can get.

"It's a stupid thing to say, but if you don't concede then you don't lose games and that is the mind-set we have got to go out there with.

"We have got players who aren't playing at the moment who could come in and do a job for us and that is an important thing to have in a team because it puts pressure on the players who are in there, knowing that if they are not doing their jobs properly then somebody else is going to step in.

"There's a bit of competition there and it keeps everybody on their toes and I think it is going to help the team in the long run to get promotion."

icky van Wolfswinkel's remarkable record of one goal from one game at least deserves an honourable mention. And I'm willing to bet that at least one of Costa, Ulloa or Enner Valencia will earn a place on the list by the end of the season. Probably not Costa
