Willem have won only two of their 24 league matches and this 3-2 home defeat means they are five points adrift at the bottom while the teams above them all have a game in hand.

They made the ideal start when Rob Haemhouts put them in front inside the opening minute, but an own goal by Tim Cornelisse in the 26th minute followed by a Melvin Platje brace before the break put the visitors in the ascendancy.

Aurelien Joachim reduced the arrears seven minutes into the second half, but Willem could not find another as NEC held out.
