The 28-year-old had his contract with the U's terminated by mutual consent at the end of last month and has penned a short-term deal at Spotland until the end of the season.

Equally at home in a wide right or central attacking role, Henderson began his career at Norwich before taking in spells with Rotherham, Northampton, Luton and Turkish outfit Ankaragucu.

After six months abroad, he joined Colchester in January 2010 and went on to score 26 times in 130 appearances.
