DFL rule out goal-line tech

The German Football League (DFL) has ruled out using goal-line technology in the Bundesliga until 2015 at the earliest.

In a statement, the DFL said that the "possible introduction of goal-line technology" in any form "will not occur before 1 July 2015,".

The statement added that a decision on its eventual implementation based on "all of the facts" will be taken by the board of directors nearer the time.

The announcement was made as part of the rights to supply the official match balls for Bundesliga games from 2014/15 was put up for tender.

Since one of the options being considered for goal-line technology is a chip inside the ball, the DFL will consider this eventuality as part of the rights package while stressing that the previous earliest date for the implementation of technology of July 1, 2014 has been put back by a year.

Goal-line technology will be used by FIFA at the 2014 World Cup after successful trials at the Club World Cup last December.
