Billy Jones: Full of praise for West Brom boss Steve Clarke

Billy Jones: Full of praise for West Brom boss Steve Clarke

Clarke was appointed last summer after Roy Hodgson left to take charge of England, and has guided the Baggies to an impressive eighth-placed standing in the Premier League.

Jones believes there are similarities between the two managers and has credited Clarke with helping to develop his own game.

"The gaffer is great - very similar to Roy," said Jones in the Daily Star.

"Roy is always very organised and we always went into a game with a game plan, and that is very much the same with the gaffer now.

"And more often than not, when we do that and perform to our abilities, we usually end up winning.

"They've both been massive and I feel like I've improved under the new gaffer this year."

Jones reckons another important factor behind West Brom's success this season has been the form of defensive midfielder Claudio Yacob.

He explained: "With the signing of Claudio I feel I can attack that little bit more, with the assurance he's just going to sit in there like he's done so far this year.

"Playing football like that means I've been able to attack a little bit more, which has been nice from my point of view.

"Claudio has been a great signing for us and has gone on to be such an important part of our season."
